    If you use a life element to heat up FILT, you can make a really good hot laser.

    No, really don't. Life elements are awful for heating lasers, they are too unstable and not hot enough. Use either constant ARAY or static PLSM instead (if you search my saves you'll find examples of both that you can study, or else search the word 'subframe' and look for lasers)
