It's not about giving people attention for arbitrary reasons. It's not about handing out fame to people who "pioneer innovation" or people with "high" amounts of skill. It is about allowing everybody to tap into their potential and maintaining an intelligent community. Throwing modern art up onto FP is obviously a worse alternative to that, we never see anybody talking about that.

i think FP would work just fine if people had the brain stems to give credit to things that are good rather than things they think look nice. If pure subjectivity rules FP, then we ignore the problem of people making actual garbage and getting all the recognition while other people actually have constructive saves to make.

TPT FP: powering imagination :DDDDD

100 people could upvote a meme, and it isn't a problem unless they ONLY upvote the memes. I keep saying people need to vote more, not less. It should look more like everything on FP would have 100+ votes, since there are obviously twice that many who will vote on a meme. I had to add that as a last thought.

The issue, as I said many times before, is the disproportionate positive reinforecement given to saves that took no effort as contrasted to the average high-effort save. A novel idea can excuse low effort, to a point. I typed a lot more and deleted it. I'm tired of typing. I just hope for change some day.

Yeah, that makes sense, but I like my "time to shut it down" quote so I'm going to keep saying it, knowing full well (as I did from the start) that it won't be shut down. I'm actually proud of this save, because I had fun making it and I love the red guy from DHMIS.

Ok, I think I can be rational now. The issue with FP is not that bad saves are on it. There are no bad saves, just as there are no good saves. Those words are woefully subjective. What constitutes something FP-Worthy? Hard work? A good idea? Those are as easily quantifiable as a fond memory recounted by a summer breeze. Eaisly romanticized but a useless metric.

Anyway, I obviously am not going to shut it down lol. We'd be much worse off without the fp, probably losing a lot of the userbase because now all the junky by date saves are always shown (making people think there is no more quality to be found in TPT's online). It just needs to be improved, but I do not have the time to do it any time soon.

"only a set number of saves at a time" is one of the biggest flaws I see in it too. I can't control what people upvote, and it's definitely true that the userbase will upvote memey saves over high effort saves a lot. So being unable to control that, I think it should feature more saves than it does now. I also want to put other things into the formula, such as the number of times it was updated (if I can detect actual changes), and make the week long limit less of a factor.

TLDR: No FP = meh, but No FP + crap on FP = dude really? #Itstimetoshutitdown
