The fans in a FANDCT can be on the bottom (forced draft) or top (induced draft). -

pickle4L17 12th Nov 2025There is also a FANDCT (Fan Assisted Natural Draft Cooling Tower), which uses fans at the top to blow the water vapor out of the top more effectively. Same princibles as a normal NDCT.

pickle4L17 26th Sep 2025Bro, a cooling tower cools cooling water from a condenser with natural draft where air is drawn in the tower, the air cools down the water and makes a pool of water at the bottom, makeup is used to makeup water from the losses from the plume of steam coming out of the tower. A very little amount of water is evaporated in the tower. Heres the thing, the cooling tower does not directly cool the steam, it cools the water that circulates in the condenser to cool the condenser to condense the steam.
