If you miss it because you started the save in the wrong display mode, just set the correct display mode and restart the save. The bug only lasts a few seconds.

    also air sim is meant to be at least semi-realistic, but this is not even slightly realistic, so I consider it a bug. If it's caused by how it calculates air, then that just means the air calculation method is broken.

    edge mode doesn't affect air sim, except for the possible presence of walls which only slightly hinder airflow when right up against the edges.

    and you have edge mode on loop

    its not a bug its just how the game calculates air
