Check the forum thread. The rules say you can't have any particles outside of the box. The contest is about shrinking saves, so you have to shrink every piece. You don't have to translate the save one to one, so leaving the controls in is optional. Having them in disqualifies the save unless they are somewhere within the box.

In order to meet the guidelines, all content outside of the border must be empty. You cannot have indicators and controls outside the box. If you want those to count, you'll have to shrink those too.
