    objects can have rings like that, but only for short periods of time unless they are constantly supplied by something

    due to strange gravity quirks, retrograde rings or rings at odd angles to a planet's spin are often highly unstable

    LightningBMW: it is if the rings form from an object captured in orbit expesually if they are relatively young because not all orbits around something like a star are aligned with each other, but the rings will slowly align with the equator over time expesually if the planet has a fast rotation.

    pretty sure its entirely possible and fairly normal for gas giants to have bands that arent aligned with their rings.
