IF in excess amount it will. But in a controlled environment like the tanks it's harmless.

don't follow you clearly right now what do you mean if you would inhale slowly. in this case on the "oxygen in higher percentages" you can see it harms right???
btw why would it be harmfull if your brain needs it ;p

It's not physically harmful. It only causes an addiction. What I meant by inhale less oxygen slowly, is that over time you would lower that percentage of oxygen to get back to a normal state.

Oxygen will simply not kill you, it is essential to live. It is not a poison.

uhmm yes it stands clearly that it could potentially could harm you and cause blindness. yeah ok but what i said is your brain wouldn't get a trigger again after a while to breath so the co2 would rise so high you could be killed.

i didn't said it was a poison, only that it could harm you and ofcourse it's essential to live

uhmm yes it stands clearly that it could potentially could harm you and cause blindness.

    I'll give you that one.

    disturbed666:

yeah ok but what i said is your brain wouldn't get a trigger again after a while to breath so the co2 would rise so high you could be killed.

Your brain is triggered to breathe again when it finds a decrease in O2. Exhaling CO2 is caused by the brain also noticing a decrease in O2 and if your chest is already expanded. It will breathe out to expel the poisonous gas.

    disturbed666:

i didn't sad it was a poison, only that it could harm you

No, someone else said it was a poison.

yes but in normal air there is a percentage of 70% nitrogen oxygen 21. with pure oxygen 100% or slightly less this would happen
normally: o2 drops (and the next breath begins on for example don't know for sure when 10%)
then: o2 is in beginning 100% the o2 would decrease and co2 would rise but you would get really weird amounts of co2 and if it was on 10% you would have like 90% of co2 and i guess that would be pretty deadly ;p

@ief015 yes i know you said that it reacts on decrease but i suppose it reacts on a certian amount of percentage that's left else you would breath on every bit of decreasing o2 right??

I totally just said that the brain reacts on a decrease on O2, did I not? Your brain does not wait until it gets every single particle of O2.

CO2's not directly poisonous, but it prevents oxygen from reaching the brain.
