One thing is for sure, you will never get over it if you stay depressed and don't move on... You should move on almost immediately .(There is no other way to really frustrate her)

You need to socialise with people regardless of their gender (and I socialise with my crush, whom ever that may be, probably most of all, compared to other people I talk to). Don't say "I can't talk to you because your a female."
50% of my friends are females... that's about 30-40 female friends I socialise with each day (school days mainly) and I'm not talking about facebook, just normal life. people will get suspicious of you if you never socialise with females.

Segregation is not the way to go.
