It's the solar maximum 2012 (2011-2013) but otherwise there is no scientific evidence.

Urhm. I think, from picked up bits of knowledge left in my brainzor, that the Myan calender ran in cycles. 2012 happened to be at the end/start of a cycle and yada-yada-yada, "AHHH, THE WORLD'S GOING TO END!! RUN!!!"


If that's not right about the cycles, correct me.
