    I downloaded it the past year. Not really sure what is exactly it looks like it is related with the SETI "project". This sounds strange, but it is a screen-saver that "helps to search" intelligent life in space and it's origins more or less. BOINC has to be the programm that helps with the projects searched by your computer. Wierd huh? But it's real, seriouslly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SETI_Institute

    I'm doing Rosetta, Einstein, Simap, GPUGrid, Primegrid, climate predictions and milkyway.
    BOINC is just that you donating CPU time for the research that the projects their doing. You can join projects on the Boinc manager.
    I suggest Einstein if you have a Display Card(GPU), or Rosetta if not.
