Evertime I log into minecraft, it says login failed. I deleated my .minecraft folder, because I thought it was something to do with the pre-realese of 1.8, and I wanted to update to the official 1.8, but it still said login failed, and to add insult to injury, It says to login at least once to play offline mode, so I can't update and install the 1.8 official .minecraft folder. I know it's not the username or password, because I logged into minecraft.net with the same username and password. Can anyone help me?

Never mind, I fixed the problem. I think I had an out of date preloader, so I couldn't re-download from the old preloader. After downloading the newer preloader, I manged to fix the problem.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU: I FORGOT TO BACK UP MY SAVES!!!!!!!!
