I wish those that value intellectual pursuit flee this planet leaving the rest behind, as maybe our species will finally have a chance. I realize this means I would be left behind, I would gladly die for the great advancement of our civilization. As it goes, there is a large majority of individuals that hold back scientific advancement in the name of religion/intolerance/ignorance/or just to hold the status quo. These people are harming us.

I would too.
We want are species known, so when we die out we can be talked about.
Our true mission should be to travel the stars, exploring the farthest reaches of the universe.
One of the only things that set us apart from animals is curiosity.
If you take that away, what are we?
We should be trying to explain the universe, and figuring out physics in itself, as well as the other sciences.
Of course art and culture are still important to keep people running, but our one thing that we have always done...
Is curiosity.
Don't you wonder if any life, out there could be looking at are televison shows and internent but don't know how to use it.
I wish humans will terraform, mars thats are only way of survival than go to the stars and look for other planets like ours.
