Vote seeing on different accounts

Okay, so my idea is that people can go on their alts, and see that some saves are voted so you don't double-vote and get banned, (like me,) on accident where they vote a save they like both on alt, and non-alt, because they forgot that they voted it; like a warning that you have voted it before on a different one, like the "Did you get permission to save this?" or "This uses custom elements" one.

    Solution: don't have alts.

That would mean the FAQ is out of date and/or unclear IMO. Right now it says that making multiple accounts is allowed unless abused. However, if there will be no measures to prevent accidental "abuse," then I think it should say that making multiple accounts is highly discouraged or else not recommended.

Yeah, we do highly discourage having alts, because most of the time they don't serve a purpose. And it's so easy to get banned if you vote on one.

I have thought about adding an in-game feature where alt accounts aren't allowed to vote. But for now, no reason to prioritize a system to support multiple accounts. The real solution is just, don't ever use the vote buttons if you're logged in with an alt.

Your original suggestion, of seeing which saves you've voted on in your current account, I really like. Mods can already see what you've voted on. Being able to see it yourself would be useful (NOT because of alts though) just so you could go back in history at saves you've liked.

The FAQ should really update from:

Yes, although abusing multiple accounts for vote fraud or spam is against the rules, using multiple accounts to allow you to vote multiple times will result in a ban. -powdertoy.co.uk

    To:

Unless there's a possibility to make an alt completely locked from voting and the FAQ would be updated to:

Yes. However, alternate accounts will have limits such as; being blocked from voting, having no ability to comment in saves, etc.

Moderators find out that you've made multiple accounts by checking if you have logged into 2 accounts in a short period of time(I don't really know whether it is true). So moderators can somehow cut off the connection between the 2 accounts(cannot PM,saves blocked from commenting, voting and tagging, cannot reply to forum postsfrom the other account)if they find 2 made by the same person.

I mean they have your IP address, it's not like they can't tell that it's an alt.

It would be very suspicious to see a bunch of users from the same IP address voting and commenting in a short time frame.

Self voting is actively discouraged, it cheats the system, and hurts others, those who actually take pride in making saves. Makes you look insecure too! The same applies to asking votes aka vote farming in my opinion. Those who ask for votes look needy and attention seeking. This ruins any form of competition and would eventually lower competition, creativity, and innovation to get front page. In short both of these harm the user eco system.

Then what would you say about using 2 seperate computers?

I just want to clarify that the features you're talking about don't exist. We can't selectively block accounts from things like commenting and voting. If an account violates the rules, our only tool is to ban it.

This thread is getting derailed. It would be hard to stay on topic though, because it talks about the ways that mods see multi-account votes and react to them. And that kind of thing, only the mods would know. I'd refrain from suggesting how we should handle it, because it needs an understanding of how the vote fraud systems work behind the scenes.

I'm going to re-lock this thread, because it got derailed, and the original suggestion is rejected. We don't want to reveal to users when their votes have been flagged as suspicious, because that would let them easily avoid the system.
