FAQ out of date

The very first question on the FAQ seems to be out of date. "Yes, although" doesn't seem to match moderators' current perspective to "highly discourage" alternate accounts. "Highly discouraged" seems like it should be more of a "no, unless" rather than a "yes, although" type of situation. The suggestion to update the FAQ has already been made by me and pacmanfan123 on a previous thread, but that thread got "derailed" and locked.

Another thing that I would like to see on the FAQ is an official word on generative AI. Comments on saves have been deleted and at least one thread has been locked after people accused others of using generative AI to help them write. It seems that the potentially AI-generated text usually stays, while the accusing comments are hidden or deleted. However, I could also see how AI-generated saves could count as "spam" or "image plotting," so it seems plausible that using AI to create saves (if/when that becomes possible) would not be allowed.

Just to note - the FAQ is not the end-all be-all for determining action or what is considered against the rules.

The question in the FAQ directly asks whether multiple accounts are allowed. While we highly discourage the use of multiple accounts, that does not mean it's not allowed - just that we see in many cases it results in multi-account voting bans. We leave the creation of multiple or alternate accounts up to the discretion of the user, while giving clear warning that the actions taken by the alternate account could be a violation of the rules in a number of situations.

New rules or clarifications are added when a situation occurs, except in few cases when it's legally prudent to clarify the issue, as a way to make the most clear and concise decision on the matter. Theoretical or what-if situations do not give objective cut-offs on making these decisions through debate.

My intention was not to imply that the FAQ necessarily trumps the rulebook or anything else. I just wanted to say that the FAQ might have the potential to become more useful.

I could write for pages and pages about something like this. However, since I do not want to "derail" my own thread by getting caught in philosophical and linguistic debates, I guess it's better for me just to stay in my lane (at least in the context of TPT) and leave it at this.

The FAQ could stand to be overhauled at some point. It's been a while since the last time. Some of the things on there are old, and there's other info that probably should be added.

When it comes to the multiple-account rule, there aren't many examples of us banning an alt account just because it exists. Although if we ban one alt for breaking the rules we usually sweep them all up. So I guess that's why the rule is written that way. Kind of my own personal policy of not being overly strict on what is and isn't allowed, and handling situations only once they come up.

For the AI thing, I have an anti-AI stance. I could consider a FAQ entry on it, but it hasn't been a huge issue in-game. I can't think of any save that was made using AI, but I did discourage someone from trying that once. That thread was a very weird case that was obviously AI-generated, but it's an uncommon scenario and most AI-generated threads would fall under spam. The only explicit stance on AI we have that I can think of is on script manager, where you have to confirm you haven't used AI to generate a script before submitting.
In general I delete anything that leads into an argument, regardless of my stance on the issue. So I would delete a combative comment that accuses others of using AI. Might've been me that deleted the comments you're talking about but I can't remember.
