Hello, I am in no way new to the powdertoy, I have just never managed to register and login with out it failing. So I have just been lurking for the last few months. Onto the point of this thread...
New elements such as magnets and interaction forces such as gravity and anti gravity are already talked about. Heres how I see it working.
Elements(new tab ingame): Magnet [Magt] This is a solid form magnet. Metal and Breakable metal are magnetized on contact, Removal of magnet removes magnetic traits. after 1.7 seconds.. Broken Metal is atracted to it and also gains temporarily magnetic properties. Melts into stone.*
Magnet Powder [mgtp] the broken form of the above Magt. this is atracts to metal, breakable metal, and broken metal. It weighs the same as broken metal. melts into stone.*
Ferrofluid (magnetic liquid) [Frfd] This is the one that is see as the main badboy. Clings to metal and breakable metal. Breakable metal acts as a external shell, sifting shape with the frfd If placed on a material such as glass, and a magnet is underneath, it will make spikes, much like the art you see for it on youtube. Spike amount and size are in relation to magnets size, distance and the width of the point closest. Will react with metal connected to/near the magnet with frfd spikes. Flammable. Can be made from mgtp and Diesel mixture.
Electromagnet. [Elmg] becomes magnetized when introduced to electrical current. Breaks into Broken metal.
Positive/negative Positive and genitive magnet waves respectively. Does not break. Melts into stone.8
*melting is based on temps 2000+. Amount of stone is less then amount of Magnet material, 2:3
New View mode: Magnetic wave view, number 8
New Physic Modes: Truegravity No objects can stay suspended in air. Walls are exempt from this. No objects tip, they jut fall straight down.
Anti gravity No gravity. What ever does what ever. movment is bases on air flow. No objects suspend in air without moving, but move according to flow. (might be tricky) Walls are again exempt. this would make rockets and stuff actually propel, for all the rocket enthusiast
Gravity points. In anti gravity mode, you can place a gravity dot and a gravity repultion dot, like the other game on danball. acts like black/white hole, does not destroy and materials
All game physics(all modes): Introduces magnetic waves. Also acts as a gravitational force.
This should help any one who wants to add these in, and make an nice all in one place list to politely debate about.
Also, an on/off for smoke would be nice, it can be annoying.
Other Ideas: Beta/gama/alpha waves, would go in the radioactive spot. UV rays Organisms that Join to get bigger. Make the window size bigger.
I'm not a programmer. I do not have the skills to put this in my self. This is just my idea list. If the programmers want to add them, you would make me and others very happy. But if any thing here is too difficult its ok., I don't mean to dump work on you, as I know this is just some thing you make for fun and volunteer your time and effort. Magnetics are a NO! Gravity mods do exist. Live with the smoke, already said no to on/off. Window size bigger= Make a shortcut then go into "Properties" then in Target put the location followed by "(space)Scale:2. Incase you didn't notice theres a search bar at the top. Search before posting.
I don't know all that much about the programming, but I imagine that unless another grid for magnetism were placed on top of the other two for velocity and wind, the only other way to do magnetism would be to have every single particle calculate its attraction to all the other particles.
...Which would be great if Powder Toy didn't already use up so much CPU. xD Just try making a sphere of Electrode and watch what happens when you spark it.
