Regional console

I wanted to know if it would be possible to make an 'element' that allowed you to drag a box over an area of your save, then the console would open up and the commands you typed would only effect that certain area. Idk if this has been suggested before; if it has, don't be rude abt it, just say so and i'll ask for the thread to be closed (seriously, I've seen some suggestions where people get a little out of hand and seriously need to just chill, about some stupid stuff).

You could call it RCNS or CNSL. It could be used when you're making something that is separated into different parts that use similar elements but only need to edit all the elements in one part without effecting the others. I know, from experience, that this would defiantly come in handy with electronics where a lot of times the same elements (metl, pscn, nscn, etc.) are used in different parts of the creation and you mess up on one part and need to do something like changing the ntct to ptct but only for that part and not the whole thing. Also, when dlay is used, for me anyways, a lot of times to get the right temp I use trial and error, which means that if I use it in one part and get it perfect, then use it in another, I hav to manually change it in the second part to get it right (or use PROP a hole bunch of times).

I know that you could use stamps and reloads of the save to get a similar effect, but to be honest, people prob won't remember to do that every time they need to change a specific section of their save to something else without effecting all of it. Personally, with my animation-thingy, I screwed up my dlay times at least twice because i was tryna get the play button right and I forgot my RAM used dlay, so i just went ahead and used console to change it.

well that acually would be useful when i build somethings most i never save or release but when i do build those i have to click somewhere, then use console, copy the section finally hit undo. but your idea is simpler and less complecated. nice dude Btw your post is making me go cross eyed somehow (like the 3ds) Scary :(

thx, and maybe my post was making you go cross eyed since it was all jumbled together. I separated it into parts now so I hope that helps.

If at all, then only without ANY lua support. Lua is far too dangerous to implement like that. Plus, where would online saves keep the commands? It's a way to increase file size.. Maybe limit it?
    >implying someone actually wants to implement it and looks for captain obvious-like advice on the forum

Below: Was thinking you were suggesting console element.

what do you mean by where would online saves keep the commands? I don't mean saving a command along with the save, I just mean like if you have pscn on both the top and bottom half of you're save, you could drag a box over the top half and type something like "!set type pscn metl" and all the pscn in the part inside the box(the top half) would become metl without affecting the pscn on the bottom half at all. It shouldn't effect save size at all. It just be like regular console, except the command only applies to a certain section of the save.

Most set console commands can take a region

tpt.set_property("temp",9999,200,200,300,300) will set the square from 200,200 to 300,300 to max temp.

Your PSCN example (changing only top half of PSCN to METL would be tpt.set_property("type","metl",0,0,612,192,"pscn") )

What if there was an easier way to change it, without pointing at all the coordinates of ???,???,???,???.

I was actually thinking about something like that the other day. I think it would be a great idea. But instead of an element maybe something like alt + click then drag or something.

I didn't know abt that, but tstill I think a new element or something like what @DJspiderize said would be a little more easier and more used (because I doubt most people know that you can set the coordinates for a section to be editied like that). I mean, either way, it still works and I'm glad you told me about that (I've always been used to using !set type pscn metl, for example). Yours and the other mods and devs call in the end though
