    If I have prti and I use the panel to change it to quartz, it starts growing. Is that weird?

    No, it's the qrts ctype.  To shoy this works, you another way this works, put down some qrtz, and set it's ctype to dust.

    Quartz is designed to grow. The ctype thing is about how quartz knows when to grow and how portals' effect particles are created.
