I know many things about TPT, but this is something I have never understood how to do. I have tried typing in !set vx spng -1 multiple times on the console, but nothing happened.

moving sponge was removed a while ago...
It still works, atleast for me it does... Also, did you type: tpt.el.spng.loss=1 before typing !set vx spng -1? if not, that could be your problem.

Or tpt.el.spng.gravity=1 as it will move down
