The Self Replicating Machine: -Research and testing-
I have posted previously about the possibility of the TPT SRM. After some research, I feel I am as prepared as can be to tackle this task. I have read Will Stevens Thesis: http://www.srm.org.uk/introduction4.html, looked at the Golly cellular automata implementation which included the universal constructor of John Von Neumann - a machine capable of self replication.
I am now asking the public whether or not they would like to assist and contribute to the PT SRM. I am in need of compression of electronics, a more compact through-frame communication system and a way to extend the piston push-width limit (the 15th pixel of frame from a piston will not be pushed). I hope that there is in fact a way to make a machine capable of building itself - at least from two halves of a copy of itself.
It has been hypothesised that a S.R. factory is the future of space exploration and mining etc. So far only biology has the complexity to find raw materials and build copies. The TPT SRM would not able to print itself with cray as the cray tmp value is unalterable. My hope is that we can make a machine that can push itself together with pistons.
If you are interested please at least comment. If you think you have skill enough to improve the current proposed components of the SRM, or can build better components, I NEED YOUR HELP. I aslo ask that any new components or edits of components are FREE TO COPY AND DISTRIBUTE because this is an open-to-public project.
Please Help.
