Its not really anyones fault that they made FP, its the fact that other people liked them. There is not much you can do about what people like, and what they dislike. Someone sees something they find even mildly amusing, they will vote it up.
You don't control what goes on the Front Page except for your own saves. No one says your tastes should determine what goes on FP and what doesn't. So what you don't like it? Other people do.The system determines what goes on there by looking on how many votes it gets in a certain timeframe. It doesn't count quality.
Why do we have to listen to you? is my question. What say do you hold over all of the rest of us. I believe sir, that we are able to upvote WHATEVER we want.
If you don't think something's good, don't upvote it. But if an unusually high amount of people think it's good and upvote it, that must be for a reason. If you think something's genuinely bad, downvote it.
If you think it's stupid and we don't, too bad. We'll upvote it, while you downvote it. Make your own choice, but don't press that choice on others.
Okay, first: "This PSA isn't meant to be mean, I am pointing things out"-Whether you meant it or not, this actually is pretty mean. Try reading your posts aloud to yourself, you might realize what a jerk your being.
Second: Do you even know how to make a good save? Most of the saves on FP took talent, innovation and time. I actually helped make one of the saves you're referring to, and it is a new, valuable concept. I spent a lot of time on it...and the other guy, G-LinuxorU did most of the work. You have no idea how much work it can be to make good, creative saves.
Third: Don't even try to use hashtags or catchy slogans in the forums, it just makes you sound like you're trying too hard to sound either cool or important. And besides, "Only You Can Stop Bad Posts Like This", isn't anywhere near catchy. Also, don't call your post a public service announcement, because it's not. That is one of the most pompous, egotistical things I've seen or heard all week. How is this a public service? What are you doing to help? What do you want to accomplish? You're not "servicing" us in any way, shape or form, you're just whining about other people's saves. A PSA would be if you outlined the uses of all the new features in TPT 89.0, for example. It's not a PSA to complain about other people not making things the way you want them to.
Fourth: Don't dislike/hate saves because they "don't look good without deco". Powder Toy isn't about deco. Those saves you're referring to aren't supposed to just sit there and look pretty, they're supposed to actually do things. And anyways, if you really want to show how good you are at art, you use undecorated elements and not deco. It's a lot harder to make good-looking art without the blur, add, and subtract tools to help you.
Next time you decide to complain, think about how your argument can be solved. If you want to fill the front page with your own perfectly-drawn, unique, innovative and useful creations, feel free, but if you can't do that, stick to what you have. Telling us not to upvote things will just make it easier for poor-quality saves to get FP.
Oh, and remind me what your contributions to TPT have been? Your highest score is -1, and your average score is -1.3. Your only truly useful post on the forums was a suggestion for an interface for TPT on an iPad, which, although well-designed, has been declared impossible many times. I don't think you're in a position to complain.
I BARELY vote saves recently. All the fop saves, either art, or engine, or lasers that I do not appreciate.
You can just suggest others to follow my voting rule.
PARTICULAR.
I would ask you to play nice, except that'd get me landed in a wildfire. :P
Now, what people vote up is their choice. There's a reason why the destroyable city by dima-gord has the highest number of votes of all time.
From what I remember, things get on the Front Page by being interesting, and making people go "Oh, now why didn't I think of that before?" Other things are voteed up due to their helpfulness/usefulness. In short, ingenuity and helpfulness are your best bet. :)
