Uneven gravity

I am pretty sure I am not the first to notice this but..... is there an explanation, why gravity pulls unevenly?

Here is an example, really simple.

newtonian gravity pulls more upwards than it does downwards, I noticed that a lot during my experiments with accelerated lasers, because I had to adjust the temperature of the gravity pump behind it to make the beam straight.

Gravity is done on a grid of 4x4 pixel cells (same grid as the walls). The strength depends on the distance in cells rather than the distance in pixels.

In that save, the distance from the top BHOL to the beam is 1 cell, but from the bottom BHOL to the beam is 2 cells. If you move the bottom BHOL up by 1 pixel (so that it's in the next grid row up), the beam should be perfectly horizontal.

     I see, thank you
