To begin generating power, just increase the sun level to “High Sun” by SPRK’ing the green INST.

Green INST is on, and Red INST is off.

A Simple Guide on How to Use the Solar Thermal Power Plant:

    Collection Array Controls

    • Bank 1 I/O - Enables/Disables the first bank of mirrors.
    • Bank 2 I/O - Enables/Disables the first bank of mirrors.
    • Bank 3 I/O - Enables/Disables the first bank of mirrors.
    • Bank 4 I/O - Enables/Disables the first bank of mirrors.

    Thermal Storage Controls

    • Output Heat/Retrieve Heat - Outputs heat to mirrors, or extracts heat from mirrors. When the sun intensity is set to high/max, you can use this to store heat. When the sun intensity is set to low, you can use the output heat function to warm up the salt in the system. NOTE: BYPASS STORAGE SYSTEM MUST BE TURNED OFF TO USE THIS.
    • Bypass Storage System - Salt coming from panels does not feed into the Thermal Storage Heat Exchanger, but instead goes to the Water/Salt Heat Exchanger.

    Water/Salt Loop Heat Exchanger Controls

    • Block Flow - Prevents salt from moving through this heat exchanger, or resets to normal flow if off.
    • Bypass (Water/Salt Loop) Heat Exchanger - Changes the salt flow from through the heat exchanger to the bypass pipe.

    Turbine Controls

    • Block Turbine Flow - Prevents liquid from going to the turbine if on, or resets the flow to normal if off

    Cooling Tower Controls

    • Disconnect Freshwater Input - Cuts off supply of freshwater to the cooling tower if on, or resets the cooling tower water supply to normal if off. This does not affect the Cooling Tower Heat Exchanger.

    Solar Emitter Controls

    • No Sun/Low Sun/Medium Sun/High Sun - Controls the intensity of the light emitters above each “mirror”.

    Normal Temperature Ranges:

    Collection Array Temperatures

    • Panel Array Output - ≥900C
    • Panel Array Input - <300-400C, Should be significantly less than the array output.

    Storage Tank Temperatures

    • Hot Tank - Varies, but should be at about 400 degrees.
    • Cold Tank - Varies, but should be a different temperature than the Hot Tank.

Main Water/Salt Loop Heat Exchanger Temperature

    • Heat Exchanger - About 200C, as long as the water entering the heat exchanger is reliably boiled.

    Cooling Tower Heat Exchanger Temperature

    • Heat Exchanger - <100C, as long as the water entering the heat exchanger is reliably condensed.
