The scores update when viewed, if they haven't been looked at in the last 8 days*. So if someone goes to your profile and it's due for a refresh, it will update the scores. Looking at this code, it was intended to be a 4 day refresh period, but due to a bug the 4 days are added twice so it's actually 8 days.

I don't see any good reason to keep it at 8 days, it's not a large amount of resources, we do more intensive stuff way more often (fp updates every 3 minutes or something). I can change it to one day.

This is changed now, profiles refresh once per day.
