Nothing displaces CONV to my knowledge, so you are gonna have to use warp, also, what particularly is bad about warp, i need more info, this is pretty vague.
warp gets all over the place, when getting my cancer to eat structures, it warps the structure and makes it all look bad. generally i just don't like warp :> (also piston's displace it, but aren't reliable so i scrapped that.)
you could run tpt.el.warp.diffusion=(number) without the parentheses, and change it to whatever you want, making it spread less, though everytime you want to use the creature you will have to run the command again.
