depends on what type of gun powder we are talking about

there is the Gunpowder we have now.

there is smokeless gun powder which produces a lot of energy

and then there is the original chinese smoke-full gunpowder, the type they used in the revolutionary war and stuff back in the 18th century

The gun powder currently used in TPT is a combination of the old style and smokeless. So it produces more smoke than smokeless, but less smoke than the old style.
