Do other stuff lags and go slow? ( See 3. )
Is there 999999 pixels of elements in your scene?

1. See if you got the right version for your OS.

2. Try closing your computer, let the smoke dissipate, then try again.

3. Try doing a defrag and cleanup of your disk, that will maybe help.
