I have always enjoyed cooking and feel that this interest really began when I was in middle school. I’ve been lucky because I was able to choose this as an option (food technology) for GCSE.
I like preparing all types of dishes; pastry desserts and restaurant style dishes. I was luck enough to get a one week work experience working in the “Three Horseshoes” public house and this gave me experience and understanding of the full range of work involved in running a successful restaurants kitchen.
My other choices for GCSEs were media studies and business studies and while I enjoy these subjects food technology is without a doubt my favourite. I would like a career in this type of work
Away from studies I enjoy cycling and often cycle very long distances for fun. I also like cooking for fun too and have had a part time job at my auntie’s café where I didn’t cook but I worked in the café environment cleaning the tables.
I think people would describe me as a responsible young man. I feel that I have grown up a lot since coming to Astley. I can take criticism now and use it to improve my self. I realise the importance of my effort and work my attendance and punctuality at Astley has been excellent and my appearance has always been commented upon in a positive way.
I believe that I have to be more self disciplined while I have been at Astley. Also I think people would describe me as kind and considerate.
I have learnt a lot at Astley and am now ready and look forward to the challenge of the world away from school. After my time at Astley is up I am going to go to Newcastle community collage where I will be studying a catering course.
